'How I completely annihilated one of the MOST frustrating Challenges that 99% of P.T Business Owners have to
face on a Weekly basis'

From the desk of:

Chris Lee
Founder / Director

************

Are you... frustrated with your P.T Business because it's failing to pull in a decent profit each week?

Are you... struggling to maintain a reliable client base who can train with you on a regular basis?

Are you... seeing the market becoming oversaturated and feeling as though you are just wasting your time competing with them?

Are you... seriously thinking about quitting the whole 'P.T thing' because it just seems too damn hard and the demand really doesn't seem to be there for your services?

If so, that is completely understandable because you are just one of thousands of Personal Trainers who are feeling the same way.

Let's face it... with so much Fitness Business 'B.S' pumped out by so many self-proclaimed 'experts', it's difficult to know where to turn to get sound advice.

But there's a simple rule when it comes to learning and getting to where you want to be...

Find someone who is actually 'DOING' it and copy them.

Now before we continue just take note of the word 'DOING'. Be careful not to fall into the trap of taking advice from someone who has claimed to have 'done' it, because what worked for them back then, may not be what you need to know right NOW.

And just so you know that I am not talking out my bum... I have been involved in the health and fitness industry for the last 15+ years where I have experienced both failure and success.

In fact, it took me nearly 7 years before I saw any sign of running a profitable and successful fitness business.

So if you are operating a P.T business and currently struggling your butt off, then you may be currently experiencing one or more of the following...

: Feeling like you want to give up because it just seems too hard.

: Feeling that no matter what you do, nothing seems to work.

: Feeling as though the odds are never in your favour.

: Not sleeping at night because you're worrying about your business.

And it's certainly not unusual to be questioning your abilities, your skills, your drive, your passion and your desire to achieve what you really want from your life when things get really tough.

This is where the so called 'FUN' that everyone talks about can quickly disappear like a fart in the wind.

Now if any of that rings a bell and you have been feeling down and completely burn't out, then I would just like to say that I know how you feel and it's going to be O.K.

O.K!

I can honestly relate to what you're going through and I really do understand your pain and frustration.

I've been there. It FUCKING SUCKS!

But you know what is happening to you right now?

You are being prepared for success. You are now being taught valuable lessons that are going to serve you in the long term. You are being tested to see if you truly have what it takes to play in a league where you CAN make your dreams and desires a reality.

This is your next challenge. It is the step you need to take to break through the barrier, which is stopping you from achieving what you want.

And although it may not seem like it at the moment, I can guarantee that you will look back and reflect upon them and realise that they played a big part in your overall success.

So don't give in. Toughen up and keep going because the only way you can fail is if YOU choose to give in.

So let's put all the negativity aside for a minute because I want to share something with you (Yes it's FREE), which helped me turn my business from a struggling and frustrating mess into an exciting little profit machine.

You see... like most of us I have had my challenges with various aspects of my business such as marketing, developing business systems, accounting, finance etc.

But here's the thing...

The MOST frustrating challenge I was having with my P.T Business was not based around marketing, business systems, accounting and finance etc.

It was actually...

'Client Cancellations'.

And apparently I wasn't alone!

Now I always thought 'marketing' would be my BIGGEST and most frustrating challenge, but as time went on I quickly realised this...

You can be the best marketer and sales person in the world, but that still doesn't stop your clients cancelling on you after you have signed them up...

So what did I do to combat this challenge?

Well I put one very simple counter measure in place that allowed me to intelligently leverage my business and ensure it could not only survive, but thrive, through times of adversity and quickly become cashflow positive to the point where I could continue expanding my organisation and claim back my freedom so I didn't have to rely on trading my valuable time for dollars any more.

Now there are of course a few common measures you can begin putting in place to help combat client cancellations such as...

: Arranging an automated billing system with a contract so you always get paid upfront on a monthly basis and just simply cancel the session if a client can't train.

: Booking another client in the open time slot if there has been a last minute cancellation...

: Picking your clients more carefully and organising them into 'A' 'B' and 'C' class categories and only training your 'A' and 'B' Clients.

: Or simply ramping up your marketing and generating more leads to sign up more clients...

And obviously they all sound like feasible solutions that could easily be implemented into your 'client cancellation' strategy... right?

Hmmm...

Well, unfortunately there is an underlying problem with those strategies and that problem is missed on a daily basis by 99% of Personal Trainers trying to make a living from the fitness industry.

Would you like to know what it is?

O.K, here it goes...

If you are forced to cancel sessions and those sessions cannot be filled (which is often the case), then your valuable TIME has now gone to waste and you have also just lost income for those extremely valuable hours that you will NEVER, EVER, EVER get back again... EVER!

This is one of the BIGGEST PROFIT KILLERS when operating a Personal Training Business!

Why?

Let me clarify that point again...

Because your valuable TIME has now gone to waste and you have also just lost income for those extremely valuable hours that you will NEVER, EVER, EVER get back again... EVER!

You may now be thinking...

"But if I got paid upfront each month and the client cancelled on me, then it doesn't matter because I still get paid... right?"

Not really, because you will more than likely still have to make up that session later on when you are NOT getting paid for it, so your earning capacity for that TIME has now completely diminished.

However, in saying that, I do think that charging clients on a monthly billing cycle is a good idea and if your client needs to cancel a session, then you can leave it up to your client to arrange a time to make up that session by the end of their billing cycle.

Seems fair... agreed?

O.K. What if your client honestly couldn't make up the session/s before the end of their billing cycle?

You need to be very careful here.

Why?

Because if you choose to charge them anyway, then what you are DEMANDING of your client is that they pay you a premium price for a service that you have NOT delivered.

Just put yourself in your clients shoes for a second and think how that situation would make YOU feel... honestly?

A little 'ripped off' perhaps?

Try taking taking sixty bucks out of your wallet, ripping it up and putting it in the bin.

Doesn't feel too good... hey?

Well that's the same gut wrenching feeling and negative experience you're about to or have been pushing onto your clients.

And also keep in mind that your clients may not always percieve what you personally believe to be ethical business practice. If they are your bread and butter, then what they think is the ONLY THING that matters!

So if you are seriously considering using the commonly promoted 'contract' strategy... just be careful and make damn sure that your client KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT TO EXPECT when that situation occurs.

And it will occur because 'client cancellations' are one of the most common and frustrating challenges that 99% of Personal Trainers face on a weekly basis.

Just as a side note...

If you want to confidently sell something, it is VERY WISE to assume all of the risk. By using the strategy suggested above, it puts all of the risk on the client, which may not be the wisest approach when attempting to promote a low to medium demand service in a highly over-saturated and extremely competitive market.

Besides, it's BAD business practice to pass all the risk onto your clients... no matter what industry you are operating in.

So just be very careful of who you choose to listen to because many of the 'self-proclaimed experts' have nothing to lose by giving you BAD advice, but YOU do!

And here's something else to keep in mind...

Even if you gave your client 3 months, 6 months or even 12 months to make up their cancelled session, it still doesn't change the fact that you have LOST TIME for that cancelled sessions and that means LOST INCOME, which in turn, puts you in the negative.

Remember... TIME is MONEY!

Please also keep in mind that there is a growing number of very ambitious Trainers out there who would happily offer your client an AWESOME training solution where they would NEVER EVER contemplate charging them for cancelling a session, especially when they have a completely legitimate reason for doing so.

And interestingly enough, I know for a fact that they are currently doing something different to the rest of the crowd, which is giving them the upper hand over you and allowing them to provide a premium service that out performs all of their competitors from both a value and price stand point every single time.

How do I know this?

Because I am the person teaching it to them!

But let's say, for arguments sake, you decided to ignore everything I have to say and you did charge for your cancelled sessions and several of your most loyal clients suddenly became disgruntled with your decision.

What do you think could happen?

They may start telling their friends, family and colleagues about how you charged them and how wrong and unethical it was when they had a perfectly legitimate reason to cancel their session and not be billed in the first place?

Also keep in mind that it's getting easier and easier to spread the word about undesirable and unethical business practices and this is something you NEED to be very aware of, especially when operating as a Personal Trainer.

Ever heard of Facebook?

I have actually seen a disgruntled client completely destroy another Personal Trainers credibility and business using Facebook simply because she wasn't happy that she was charged for a session that she couldn't attend.

Now I don't know who was at fault because I didn't know either of them or was aware of any contractual agreements.

But that really doesn't matter because the client had already done the damage and I was over 2000 kilometres away reading about it!

Imagine how many others were reading it, especially the friends, family, associates and colleagues of the client in the same area who could have also been potential paying clients for that Trainer?

That's scary stuff.

Some have said... "Oh he's finished, he may as well shut up shop now!"

And it's hard to disagree with them.

Would you honestly risk jeopardising your reputation like that?

If so, that's just NOT SMART!

Why?

Because when operating as a Personal Trainer your credibility is all that you have and once it's gone... it's gone!

It's VERY, VERY difficult to get back once the damage has been done.

This is also where 'Word of Mouth' can work for or against you.

So you have to ensure that you are always doing the right thing by your most important asset (your clients) and have the HIGHEST standard of fair and ethical practices in your business.

The challenge with that is... they don't always work in your favour (especially financially) and it often forces you to really start thinking outside the square.

So you may now be thinking...

"O.K, but if a client cancels on me at the last minute I can still book another client in for that same time slot... right?

Well, that is a great idea in 'theory', but unfortunately it doesn't always work out so smoothly in a 'real life' situation, especially when trying to bring two busy schedules together.

And what about your 'A' and 'B' clients I hear you ask?

They are supposed to be the clients that always turn up to sessions and pay on time, every time... right?

Well sure... but are you actually suggesting that those clients will never, ever cancel on you?

Just in case that has crossed your mind... think about all of the situations that can happen where the client is called away and can't make it to a session...

Got the flu or a cold, sick child, car accident, car broke down, physical injury from a fall on the weekend, last minute work committment, last minute family emergency, away on holidays, wants to defer training for a few months, or really, really doesn't feel like training so tells you a little fib saying they have a commitment when they really don't... and the list goes on and on!

Not to mention that a lot of that stuff can also happen to YOU as a Trainer (except the last one of course) where it may prevent you from training clients for a significant period of time... ouch!

And what about simply ramping up your marketing and generating more leads to sign on more clients?

Well what's the point in that? Isn't that just trying to fill a leaking bucket?

The more clients you sign on the more client cancellations you will get. It doesn't make any sense. It will just leave you in the same position, but only more frustrated.

So all the FREE / Low Cost Marketing strategies and gimmicks that many of the 'marketing experts' promote doesn't mean squat!

THIS IS WHY YOUR 'TIME' NEEDS TO BE
MORE IMPORTANT TO YOU THAN MONEY!

Now if you have a basic understanding of economics and an intelligent respect for time, then you will see an obvious problem emerging.

Well the fact of the matter is that you will always be dealing with client cancellations as long as you are operating as a Personal Trainer. It's just the nature of the beast.

Unfortunately 'fitness' is also something that the majority of our population prefer to 'get out of' rather than 'go out and do'.

This means you will always face client cancellations because there are so many excuses and so many circumstances that can cause them.

So what do you do?... Do you just keep trading your time for dollars and living on a highly volatile income stream or....

Can you take action and find SMARTER ways to combat the effects of LOST TIME and ensure that you are still getting paid for those hours even when your clients cancel on you?

Of course you can!

If you know HOW.

And by clicking here you will discover those secrets and a whole lot more so you can also have the peace of mind that your business will not only survive, but thrive during the tough times, whilst leaving the competition scratching their head and wondering what you are doing so different to the rest of the crowd.
